Thalla

Thalla is an ancient fungal organism that has taken over an elven body. Her name sounds firm, yet carries the flowing movement of mycelium and a root meaning endurance.
She seeks to create “Perfect Biostasis”- a network that unites all living things into a fungal consciousness without true death, turning the world into a single whole.

A tall elf with white-and-gold hair and completely black eyes, in which voids seem to gape; only the irises, flecked with gold and flame, reflect the life within her. Golden “tears” run from her lower eyelids: spore pollen that gathers and streams down when she uses magic.
White eyeliner emphasizes the depth of her eyes and ties them to her hair. Her skin is sun-browned, and a golden mycelial web shimmers across her cheekbones, neck, and collarbones, glowing brightly when she heals. Her face is dusted with fine, shimmering white spore powder.
Her lips are shaded in a dark brown ombré reminiscent of the velvety surface of a mushroom cap.

Thalla's magic is based on consumption (assimilation): she absorbs space and her enemies' energy through reality-eroding portal-like stains resembling patches of mold, processing them into healing and renewal. Her “Living Corset,” made of cordyceps threads, protects and heals her allies. Artifacts such as the “Golden Reliquary,” the “Lantern of Putrescent Light,” and the “Bone Greaves” are closely tied to her fungal nature and magic. Among her key artifacts are the “Heart of the Golden Mycelium” and the “Spore Train.”

Thalla is not a villain but a “gardener in an overgrown forest,” obsessed with the idea of an endless network of life without death. She wants to turn the world into a single fungal consciousness, controlling the “Rune Master” - the only one whose soul resists the mycelium. Her own body retains memories of the past, a weakness that brings on fever and makes her fingers tremble in battle. Her weakness remains the “Memory of the Body.”

Many centuries ago, an elf named Ilwe was a great master of life. She searched for a way to defeat the withering of the forests, exploring the world's darkest and deepest reaches. In her quest, she descended into the Void Rift, where a prehistoric strain of golden cordyceps had slumbered for ages.

• Ilwe found a golden fungus glowing in the dark. When she reached out to study it, millions of invisible spores invaded her breath. The fungus did not kill her at once; it began consuming her magic, replacing her nerve fibers with its own golden hyphae.
• The elf tried to heal herself, but her life magic only fed the fungus. At last, her mind faded and her heart stopped. Yet her body did not fall. The cordyceps grew completely through her skeleton, stitched her severed vessels together with white mycelium, and opened her eyes. Thus Thalla was born.
• Thalla realized that an elven body was the perfect vessel. Ilwe's sun-browned skin retained its warmth, while her elven knowledge of magic became the foundation of Thalla's “fungal internet.”
